Ex Constable Sydney Stone reaches his 100th birthday

On the 10th September 2014 Sydney Stone became the only the second police pensioner since the Force amalgamated in 1967 to achieve this milestone and in fact is the first in Devon!

Our many congratulations are extended to Sydney on his 100th birthday and Fund Trustee Michele Slevin visited him on his great day to personally pass on our congratulations. The Fund paid for an entertainer and birthday cake for his celebrations. In addition Michele presented him with a Devon and Cornwall Constabulary glass paperweight from the Fund.

Sydney joined the Devon Constabulary in 1935 and retired in 1950 due to injury. He is the longest recipient of a police pension in this Force and in all probability the whole country having been on pension for 64years!!

Sydney served at Torquay, Seaton and Torrington and now lives in residential care at Northam, Near Bideford.

Once again many congratulations Sydney
